By The Rt. Rev. Dr. Edward J. Konieczny

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

In just a few days, The Episcopal Church will gather for the 79th General Convention in Austin. This gathering, held every three years, is the democratic process by which we discern how and where we are being called as the Episcopal Branch of the Jesus Movement.

There are a number of important items before the General Convention this year. While none of us can predict the outcome of any of these conversations, I can assure you that the Deputies and Bishops attending General Convention will actively engage each issue with prayer and a passion for the work of our Church.

As the General Convention progresses, I invite you to follow along through The General Convention Media Hub which offers live-streaming, direct links to breaking General Convention news, a new end-of-day wrap-up show being launch this year, TEC-Talks, and more. Additionally, I invite you to follow our Diocesan General Convention Blog as your Deputation and I post accounts of the Convention business and events.
I ask you all to join us in prayer as we engage in this important work and ministry of our Church.

Almighty and everliving God, source of all wisdom and understanding, be present with those who take counsel in the 79th General Convention of The Episcopal Church for the renewal and mission of your Church. Teach us in all things to seek first your honor and glory. Guide us to perceive what is right, and grant us both the courage to pursue it and the grace to accomplish it; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
(Book of Common Prayer, p. 818)

Faithfully,
+Bishop Ed
