The Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma raised $164,108.97 to support the feeding ministry of Historic Vernon AME Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The Diocese matched all gifts up to $50,000. After that match was met, the Ron and Carole Woods Foundation generously matched an additional $10,000. And, we surpassed that match with $44,108 more!
Gifts were donated around the country from Boston to Alabama to California! A total of 379 individual gifts were given.
Historically, the Bishop’s Appeal has benefited Episcopal ministries within the diocese, but, in this unprecedented year, the Appeal supported the extraordinary "God Provides" feeding ministry of Historic Vernon Church. Vernon Church has served an average of over 70 meals per day since the pandemic began in March 2020.
Donations will help upgrade their kitchen and build a prayer wall for a place of pilgrimage for racial reconciliation.
