The
Episcopal Church Women of Oklahoma met on May 3-4, 2019 at St. Crispin’s for
the 2019 Annual Conference and Bishop’s Day.
This was the first time the women
gathered at St. Crispin’s. Even though the conference began amidst a terrific
rain and thunderstorm, the group was diligent in coming together for a time of
social networking and brainstorming on Friday evening. Saturday brought much
clearer skies, and the women began the conference with a labyrinth walk led by
Karen Meites and Janice Eberhard. It was a perfect way to begin the day with a
time for quiet and reflection. At the business meeting, a discussion led to a
change in the bylaws for the role of treasurer, and a task force will begin to
look at ways to revitalize the diocesan ECW.
Sherry Sullivan of St. Paul’s
Cathedral, OKC was elected president, and Robin White, St. Andrew’s, Grove will
serve as vice president. Debbie Potter was re-elected as UTO chairman, and
Debbie Butcher will chair the Blue Book. There are still vacancies on the board
for anyone interested in serving on the diocesan board. Connie Cronley of Tulsa
was the keynote speaker. She was a true delight and so much fun to listen to as
she told her funny, inspiring and simply awesome stories. Connie is the author
of several books, and is an award winning journalist and radio commentator.
Mother Debora Jennings led our worship time and gave a wonderful homily. The
Diamond Jubilee ladies were celebrated for 75 years of baptism; they were
Yvonne Baker, Doreen Wood, and Joyce Jackson all of St. Luke’s Tulsa and Linda
Herndon of St. Luke’s, Chickasha.
Next up is our Fall Retreat on October 4-6.
With the guidance of Mother Debora, we will be studying the wonderful hymn,
“How Great Thou Art”. Mark your calendars to join us for fun, fellowship and
spiritual renewal!!
