Funeral Service of Greg Huston

Funeral Service of Greg Huston

It is with great sadness that I share with you the news that Greg Huston, died early Monday morning.

Dear Friends,

It is with great sadness that I share with you the news that the husband of Kate Huston, Director of Formation at St. Paul's Cathedral in Oklahoma City, and the brother of the Rev. Jeff Huston, Campus Minister at Oklahoma State University, Greg Huston, died early Monday morning in an auto accident.

Greg has been an active minister in our diocese for many years, serving in numerous capacities, often behind the scenes. As a professional chef, he often catered meals for many diocesan events, including a special event for the Bishops attending the Episcopal Youth Event held in Oklahoma City in 2017, and the Clergy Renewal of Vows held on Holy Monday each year. He had a long history of involvement with St. Crispin's Camp & Conference Center, including serving as a Summer Camp Counselor for several years and serving as one of the elite judges during the first St. Crispin's Cook-Off in 2017. While in high school, he was an active member of St. Dunstan's Youth Group, and later went on serve as an active volunteer at the 2017 Episcopal Youth Event. As husband to Kate, father to Brigid, brother to Jeff, and dear friend to many, Greg always served with a full heart.

Kate has served as the Director of Formation at St. Paul's Cathedral for several years. She has also served as the Assistant Secretary of Diocesan Convention, as a member of the Saint Crispin's Camp Board, as a Dean at Summer Camp, and on the Formation Commission. In addition, she has served as a Deputy to General Convention in 2012, 2015, and 2018.

Kate has asked for your prayers and privacy at this time.

The Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 20th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Cathedral in Oklahoma City. There will be a reception following the service, and all are welcome.

The family has asked that anyone wishing to offer a memorial gift please direct it to the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma in Greg's name for donation to St. Crispin's Camp & Conference Center.

Please keep Kate, Brigid, Jeff, and all of Greg's family in your prayers.

O God, whose mercies cannot be numbered: Accept our prayers on behalf of your servant Greg and grant him an entrance into the land of light and joy, in the fellowship of your saints; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

 Faithfully,

+Bishop Ed
