with our Red Cross and Emergency Management Shelter for the Muskogee Area,
housing family members displaced by the flooding and rains. The shelter
closed out Wednesday afternoon, June 12th.
THURSDAY, JUNE 13 - SHELTER FINAL UPDATE
GRACE EPISCOPAL CHURCH, MUSKOGEE would like to thank each and every soul who assisted with our Red Cross and Emergency Management Shelter for the Muskogee Area, housing family members displaced by the flooding and rains. The shelter closed out Wednesday afternoon, June 12th.
Each of our 50 some family members (including the 15 family pets so generously cared for by the Muskogee Animal Shelter) displaced by the storms and flooding have all been placed in longer term temporary situations and they are already into clean- up of their flooded homes, or looking for more permanent solutions with OHFA and FEMA help.
Again, there is not praise enough for Director Tyler Evans and his Muskogee Emergency Management teams; Grace’ next door neighbors, Rev. Coleman and his wonderful, loving, Temple of Hope congregation; Police and Fire First Responders; Red Cross shelter managers, teams, chaplains, nurses, and supply folk; the Muskogee Masonic Temple/Eastern Star; the 7th Day Adventist Samaritan Center; the Phoenix own Cathy Spaulding, who highlighted the needs of our shelter folk; and every single volunteer who gave of themselves so graciously this past month. These have all shown that they are truly the Lord’s hands and hearts here in this place.
There are not enough words to say "thank you" to everyone who helped set up, brought supplies, fixed meals and snacks, served our guests, drove folks to appointments, ferried folks to the Fitness Center showers in the pouring rain, picked up clothing, hauled laundry to laundromats, helped clean up the buildings and grounds, prayed for us and our charges, and offered to do literally anything that might be needed! Again, bless you all!
Please continue to keep all those affected by the storms and flooding in your prayers. The hard work of recovery and rebuilding lives is ahead for these resilient Oklahomans.
