New Hope Sunday

New Hope Sunday

New Hope Oklahoma is gearing up for an exciting summer serving children with one or both parents behind bars in Oklahoma. New Hope began as an outreach ministry of the Episcopal Church in 1992 serving children at St. Crispin’s through summer camps. Now as a non-profit organization supported by Episcopal churches and Episcopalians throughout the state, New Hope serves hundreds of children annually through case management, after-school programs, family events, and summer camps.

Summer Camps for Children of Prisoners

Oklahoma incarcerates more mothers than anywhere in the nation. On or around May 9th, Mother’s Day, New Hope is asking churches to remember children with mothers in prison by hosting a “New Hope Sunday.” Churches can support children in a variety of ways and scale the event to their needs and congregation. Examples of parishioner or church support could include prayer for New Hope children and families, signing up volunteers, providing camper sponsorships, taking up a collection for physical items like art supplies, and providing referrals for eligible children in local communities who could benefit from camp. New Hope will provide all materials needed and is also happy to send a representative.

If your parish would like to participate in supporting these vulnerable children or learn more about New Hope Sunday, please contact Lindsay Fry-Geier at lindsay@newhopeoklahoma.org or via phone at 918.359.9024.
