Praying the Daily Office

Praying the Daily Office

Bishop Poulson invites you to  pray the Daily Office with him this new year!

A message from Bishop Poulson:

Ever since I began my ministry in Oklahoma in April 2020, one of my sure foundations in an uncertain pandemic time has been praying the Daily Office in our lovely little chapel at the Diocesan Office, called the Oratory of the Four Evangelists. I’ve been doing this alone, but as the New Year begins, I’m wanting to open it up. So if you’re around midtown OKC, or here for a meeting, you are welcome to join me for Morning Prayer Monday through Thursday from 9am to 9:20, or Evening Prayer Monday through Thursday from 4:45 to 5pm. My own experience over more than 20 years is that the Daily Office has grounded my faith, taken me through most of the Bible every two years, inspired me through the lives of the Saints, and opened my stubborn heart more fully to God’s presence. I’ve been touched in several remembrances of Archbishop Tutu by his devotion to the Office and the Eucharist, which were a foundation for his difficult and often draining justice work. If you’re looking for a prayer practice in the New Year, it’s hard to go wrong with the Daily Office. Through it, God can change your life.
