By The Rt. Rev. Dr. Edward J. Konieczny

A benefit from the recent Diocesan staff reorganization is that The Rev. Canon Tony Moon, Ph.D. is now designated as the point person for Pastoral Care for the clergy of our Diocese. Without reducing his involvement with Diocesan Clergy, Bishop Ed hopes that by having Canon Tony provide this care, more clergy will be able to connect and receive assistance and support during those times when they experience changes in health, family relationships, work stress, etc.

Serving his Parish and the Diocese, Canon Tony has proven himself to be a reliable professional. Tony was ordained a Deacon in our Diocese nearly twenty-one years ago and is completing his studies at the School of Iona this spring, with plans to be ordained a bi-vocational priest.

Tony’s secular career path focused on families and organizations. He worked for many years as a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Tony received his master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma and completed post-graduate work with the Menninger Foundation in marital and family therapy. After his counseling career, he worked as an organizational consultant in healthcare. His Ph.D., earned at the University of Oklahoma, focused in the area of human performance improvement. Canon Tony has provided pastoral care services throughout his ministry, from St. Mary’s, Edmond, to St. Augustine’s, Oklahoma City, and from our Diocesan Offices.
