In consultation with the Bishop’s Committee, I have appointed the Rev. Beth Hill Bell to serve as Bi-vocational Priest-in-Charge of St. David’s, Oklahoma City, effective upon the departure of the Rev. Tracey Carroll in May.
Mother Beth served faithfully for many years as a deacon at the Church of the Resurrection, Oklahoma City. Since her ordination to the priesthood last June, she has been serving as a Bi-vocational Priest Associate at St. David’s. She is a graduate of our Oklahoma IONA School for Ministry, which forms vocational deacons and bi-vocational priests for service in the Diocese of Oklahoma. Bi-vocational priests, in particular, help us to provide a sacramental and pastoral presence where we might not otherwise be able to do so, partnering with lay leadership in all aspects of the ministry of the congregation. They are vital to our efforts to advance the Jesus Movement in Oklahoma, especially in small congregations and rural areas.
Please join me in praying for this new partnership in the ministry of the Gospel, for Mother Beth and the People of St. David’s, and for all those they are called to serve.
