Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

I am very pleased to announce that, in consultation with the Vestry and the Bishop’s office, the Rev. Tom Dahlman, Rector of Emmanuel, Shawnee has called the Rev. J. Michael Matkin to serve as a curate effective July 1, 2019.  Michael is a senior at the Seminary of the Southwest and was raised up for the ordained priesthood by All Saints’, McAlester.  He was ordained to the transitional diaconate at All Saints’ in January.

The diocesan curacy program involves a financial partnership between the diocese and the teaching congregation and is intended to be an ongoing time of formation for recently ordained clergy, as well as an enhancement of the ministry of the congregation.  The Rector and various lay leaders at Emmanuel will provide important mentoring for Michael and practical experience to augment what he has learned through his seminary and field education experiences.

Please join me in praying for this new partnership in ministry, for the people and clergy of Emmanuel, Shawnee, and for all those God is calling them to serve.

Faithfully,

Bishop Ed
