The Rev. Susanne Methven to Saint Simeon's

The Rev. Susanne Methven takes new call at Saint Simeon's Senior Living Community in Tulsa, OK

Saint John’s Episcopal Church, Tulsa announced on Monday that their Associate Rector, the Rev. Susanne Methven will be leaving to take a new role across town at St. Simeon’s Senior Living Community. There she will serve as Staff Chaplain effective December 21st, 2020.

The Rev. Methven came back to Saint John’s Episcopal Church (Tulsa) as the Interim Associate Rector in 2019 after having served for several years as the Director and Priest-in-Residence for Clover House, a residential program for female minor survivors of sex trafficking, in Salina, Kansas.

Prior to going to Clover House she was the Associate Rector at Saint John’s Episcopal Church for nine years and was active in prison ministry, New Hope and interfaith organizations. Her enthusiasms include being a spiritual director and gardening.

She has lived in England, Australia, Canada, and on both coasts of the US, as well as the mid-west. She is a life-long learner and has Masters degrees in business, marriage and family therapy and divinity, as well as certificates in gerontology and spiritual direction.

She states, “I am excited about serving residents, staff and families at Saint Simeon's. I'll miss the quality of light that comes through the parishioners and stained glass windows at Saint John’s.”

The Rev. Methven takes over the position after the retirement of the Rev. Bill Holly who served in that role since 2008.

Bishop Poulson adds, “I’m delighted that Susanne will be our new Chaplain at Saint Simeon’s, following the Reverend Bill Holly, who has been a wonderful and dedicated pastor for that community for so many years. Susanne has extensive pastoral experience in a multitude of contexts, combined with leadership gifts. And most important of all, she has a heart for ministry to and with our elders. We welcome her to this new role in our diocese.”
