Saint Simeon’s Western Days to be presented by Video Sept. 15

Saint Simeon’s annual Western Days celebration will be held via a special video presentation, which will premiere on Sept. 15, the original date of the event.

The theme of this year’s Western Days is “Cheers to 60 Years” in commemoration of Saint Simeon’s 60th anniversary.

Founded in 1960, Saint Simeon’s is one of Oklahoma’s leading nonprofit senior living communities, and is located on a 50-acre wooded campus, including a natural wildlife preserve close to downtown Tulsa.

Due to the pandemic, the popular annual event has been moved to a video format, which will feature Saint Simeon’s “Heroes and Saints” – the front line workers who have provided care for its residents, and focus on its the 60th anniversary.

“We are so excited to present Western Days via a very exciting video celebration,” says Beth Brown, Co-Chair of Western Days, along with her husband Scott Brown. “The video will feature tributes to our heroes and saints, our many friends and supporters, members of our Board of Trustees, and so many others who are devoted to the care and well-being of our beloved residents.”

Each year, approximately 700 guests gather for Western Days, now in its 24th year. The event provides support for life enrichment programs, extensive amenities and the high level of compassionate care for which Saint Simeon’s is well-known, said Brown.

“We are thrilled to announce that Phyllis and George Dotson are serving as Honorary Chairs of this year’s Western Days,” she said.

This summer, members of the Western Days leadership team are seeking sponsorships and contributions for the annual Western Days celebration.

“It’s so important to continue our support for Saint Simeon’s even though we will not be gathering in person for Western Days,” said Hilary Clark, Chair of the Western Days Patron Committee. “The financial needs of Saint Simeon’s have increased during the pandemic and it’s more important than ever that we step up and provide the support they need.”

The Western Days Leadership Team also includes Patron Chair Hilary Clark and Advisory Chairs Melissa and Mac Stallcup. Other members of the Western Days Committee include Rachel and Wink Kopczynski, Wink Kopczynski, Jr., Kristye and Chuck McKinney, Debbie Vinyard, Thea Lawson, and Charlie Redding. The video presentation is being produced by Rumbledrum of Tulsa.

Saint Simeon’s provides specialized care for those with Parkinson’s disease and is Oklahoma’s first Struthers Parkinson’s Care Network-Certified Community. Saint Simeon’s also offers assisted living, memory care, general health care and skilled nursing. Saint Simeon’s is recognized for its 50-acre wooded campus, natural beauty and comprehensive level of amenities, including Wellness Center with heated indoor pool, Peggy V. Helmerich Library, walking paths, therapy gym, chapels, ice cream parlor for families, and beautifully landscaped gardens.

Saint Simeon’s is a mission of the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma, and welcomes residents of all faiths and backgrounds.
