Your Bishop Search and Nominating Committee is hard at work putting all the pieces in place, finding dates and venues, as well as getting our process in order. The committee is full of dedicated and talented individuals that represent the breadth of the diocese - metro to rural, big churches and small, long time Oklahomans and people new to the diocese. We are theologically and liturgically diverse. Most importantly, we are committed to finding the best candidates possible to serve the beautiful diversity of our great diocese. While there are many Bishop elections going on throughout the church, we are confident that the Diocese of Oklahoma will have stellar candidates for Bishop. We have much to be proud of as we are one of the healthiest dioceses in the larger church - financially, spiritually, and numerically.
While we are still hammering out some of the details, below is a broad outline of the process.
Timeline - A Bishop for Oklahoma:
- March 7th - 17th: Online and Paper Survey of the Diocese
- March 31st and April 7th: Live Regional Listening Sessions
- Spring 2019: Construction of the Diocesan Profile and Application
- June 3rd: Diocesan Profile is Live Online
- June 3rd - July 12th: Application Period is Open
- July/August: Search Committee Screens Candidates
- September: Discernment Retreat with Semi-Finalists
- October: Slate of Candidates for Bishop Announced
- Late November/Early December: Walkabouts
- December 14th: Bishop Coadjutor's Election

Your input is important to this process. Together, we will define our identity, develop a common vision for our future, and articulate our leadership needs for the next bishop. We invite the diocese to participate as widely as possible in the online survey and set your calendars for the following Listening Sessions which will be facilitated by members of the Bishop Search and Nominating Committee.
