Shrove Tuesday Fundraiser at Casady

Shrove Tuesday Fundraiser at Casady

This Shrove Tuesday, Casady School hosted their annual pancake breakfast, the first one they have hosted for many years due to Covid-19. The Casady School parents organization sponsored the pancake breakfast with food donations from Braum's and Jimmy's Egg. This year, the pancake breakfast raised money for Magdalene House OKC, a new program aimed at helping women survivors find healing, hope, recovery, and new life. Last year's Bishop's Appeal benefitted Magdalene House OKC, assisting them in preparing and funding a significant portion of the first program year.

Benefitting the community is in Casady School's nature; students at Casady make community service a big part of their college preparation. Fr. Tim Sean Youmans, Vicar of the Chapel of St. Edward the Confessor, assisted in organizing the benefactor this year; he commented on the fundraiser, "It's all part of our Chapel's Soulcraft Program, and we are hoping our high school students will be able to help in a variety of ways, both now and the future."

Casady's SoulCraft program is where students have an opportunity to experience and connect with others during chapel time on topics such as spirituality, community service, diversity, equity, and inclusion. For Casady, this was a fantastic opportunity for their community to benefit Magdalene House, while modeling community service to their students.

Fr. Tim Sean Youmans commented on the importance of Magdalene House OKC, " A Jesus spirituality is always looking for ways to cultivate healing and grace. Magdalene House will be doing that beautiful hard work, and we want to find out what God is doing and walk with him."

Casady's Shrove Tuesday pancake breakfast raised several thousands of dollars for Magdalene House OKC. Way to go, Casady School!
