Thriving in Bi-Vocational Ministry Project

Thriving in Bi-Vocational Ministry Project

Six priests and deacons from the Diocese travelled to Camp Allen, Texas to participate in the launch of the Thriving in Bi-Vocational Ministry Project.  The program, made possible by a five-year grant from the Lilly Endowment, provides an opportunity for recently ordained bi-vocational clergy, trained through the Iona School for Ministry, to strengthen ministry skills in preaching or spiritual formation.  In addition, it pairs them with priest or deacon mentors to help guide them in various aspects of overall ministry.  Over the next year, program mentors will work one-on-one with participants as well as small group cohorts working together.  The six attending from Oklahoma are The Revs. Bryan Beard (Church of the Holy Cross - Owasso), Mary Ann Coffman (St. David's - OKC), Dion Crider (Church of the Resurrection - OKC), Ann Murray (St. Mary's - Edmond), James Tyree (St. John's - Norman), and Rocio Zamudo (St. Christopher's - Midwest City).
