This past summer, the Youth Committee at St. Patrick’s, Broken Arrow was busily preparing for the kickoff of the 2017-2018 children’s Christian Formation classes.
Two different curriculums had been selected for the year, and each curriculum required various supplies for the weekly lessons.
In an effort to assist the volunteers who generously offer their time to teach Sunday School classes, the committee decided to try something new.
Why not have another group of volunteers collect and organize the supplies needed each week, so the teachers could focus on teaching? With this thought in mind, the Supply (Angels) Coordinators came to be!
Four parish members responded to the committee’s request for help and went to work gathering the materials needed.
The supplies for each Sunday of the school year were bagged, and the bags were labeled by curriculum and by date. The bags were then placed on racks, one for each curriculum, in a large supply closet at church.
Teachers report that having the supplies on site and ready to go when they walk in on Sunday morning, is a tremendous help.
Given the success of the project, the Supply Angels (make that Coordinators) have recently begun meeting again to restock and re-label the bags for the 2018-2019 school year.
