On Saturday, February 24th, Bishop Edward J. Konieczny celebrated a joyous Celebration of New Ministry service held at St. Luke's, Bartlesville installing the Rev. Fr. Steve Hood as the new Rector.
As the service began, Fr. Steve was introduced by representatives from the congregation’s leadership and presented to Bishop Ed and the congregation. The service continued with an inspiring sermon from the Rev. Jane Ellis, a Deacon at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.During the formal Induction portion of the service, Fr. Steve was presented with numerous gifts from the Bishop, diocesan clergy, and members of the congregation as signs of his ministry at St. Luke’s. The gifts included: A Bible, water, a stole, a book of prayers, oil, keys to the church, a book of Constitutions and Canons, a cross, a Godly Play Story, and bread and wine.
Following, Fr. Steve knelt before the Bishop and the congregation and offered a prayer as he began this next chapter in his ministry. Fr. Steve was then officially presented by Bishop Ed as the new Rector, and he and his wife, Tracy, were joyfully congratulated and welcomed by the congregation.
The service followed with a warm and welcoming reception celebrating this new chapter in the life and ministry of St. Luke's, Bartlesville.
