Native American Sunday

Native American Sunday

On August 26th, St. Thomas Episcopal, Pawhuska, gathered to celebrate Native American Sunday honoring all native peoples and in respect for the ministry of David Pendleton Oakerhater (Making Medicine), Deacon of the Episcopal Church.
The feast day began with Holy Eucharist, the church decorated with the parish families' blankets adorning the altar, rails, and pews of each family member.
The Prayers of the People were taken from the Book of Common Prayer, Thanksgivings and Blessings.
Denver Wahwassuck, a student at Tonkawa, returned to St. Thomas' to sign The Lord's Prayer.
After the worship service, the parish gathered in the Common Room to a traditional meal of Corn Soup, Fry Bread, and more other congregational favorites.
St. Thomas prays each Sunday for our national leaders, our governor, legislators, mayor, councils and chiefs.
