By the Rev. Blake Woods, Campus Minister, University of Oklahoma
This past Sunday, October 28th, St. Anselm of Canterbury celebrated the beginning of a new chapter of ministry on the campus of the University of Oklahoma. After more than a year of construction, Canterbury is finally looking spectacular again!
Renovations included a new tile roof, refinished flooring throughout, three complete bathroom remodels, a kitchen remodel, a new porch, converting the garage into livable space, extensive plumbing and electrical work, new paint, new furniture, and a brand new front yard… needless to say, we had a lot to celebrate and a lot to be thankful for.
The Bishop and Canon Susan Brown Snook joined us for an incredible worship service full of past and current students, as well as friends of the ministry. Along with blessing the space and calling us to mission, Bishop Ed also blessed our large graduating senior class, calling them to take what they have learned at Canterbury about God and Christian community and to use it to change the world around them. We have no doubt that they will do just that.
Now begins the hard work of taking the generosity of the diocese, and the incredible gift of our beautiful building, and using it to further Christ’s work in the world in new and exciting ways. Please keep us and the University of Oklahoma in your prayers and feel free to stop by anytime you are in Norman, we’d love to show off the new place!
