Book Group with Canon Kara Slade

Join the Rev. Canon Dr. Kara Slade, our Diocesan Theologian in Residence for a book group on Tokens of Trust by Rowan Williams. Canon Slade will lead us as we walk together through Rowan Williams' introduction to Christian belief through the lens of the Apostles' Creed. This will be a Zoom group, so everyone in the Diocese is encouraged to attend!

Tuesdays at 6:30 PM from July 8th-August 12th via zoom.

What does it mean to believe in God? Can God possibly be almighty in the midst of so much evil and disaster? How am I to understand the meaning of Jesus Christ's ministry and resurrection? To what purpose is the church called? And what does it really mean to follow Christ in today's broken world? Tying together the answers to all of these questions and addressing perplexities such as the possibility of miracles and how to read the Bible, Rowan Williams demonstrates that each of the basic tenets of Christian faith flows from one fundamental belief: that God is completely worthy of our trust.

While you don't need to read the book in order to participate, you are strongly encouraged to do so in order to get the most out of the discussion. For the first meeting, we will cover the Introduction and Chapter 1.
