Movie Set at St. Crispin’s

Since mid January, a crew from Grace Based Films and various actors have made St. Crispin's Conference Center + Camp their home base to shoot a brand-new movie called HOPE. You may remember Grace Based Films from the documentary A Case for Love, featuring PB Michael Curry.

The film HOPE follows a group of students on a school trip in the woods at St. Crispin’s, where time away from their normal routines brings hidden struggles to the surface. Surrounded by nature, they confront loneliness, anxiety, and the pressures of growing up in today’s world. As friendships are tested and honest conversations unfold, each student begins searching for meaning and belonging. Ultimately, the story is about resilience and discovering hope even in the most uncertain moments.

Steve Fleenor, CFO and Producer at Grace Based Films, shared about their experience at St. Crispin’s so far: “We’ve had an unbelievably good experience here. Many crew members have said this is the best job they’ve had in years, and the camp and its staff have a lot to do with that!”

The crew is wrapping up filming now and will leave St. Crispin’s on Friday, Feb. 27, after around a month of filming.

Richard Bombach, Executive Director at St. Crispin’s, shared several moments of joy throughout the crew’s time on campus: “Watching guests from across the country discover peace and a sense of home here, sending sunrise photos, lingering on the dining hall porch, and settling into the simple pace of this place. Seeing young actors fully invest in their craft, rehearsing lines in the Living Room, and then bringing those scenes to life on camera. The level of talent has been remarkable.”

He also described how the crew spent time together on Super Bowl Sunday: “When David, our Food Services Director, prepared wings, snacks, and dips for everyone. During the game, they followed the score, but during the commercials, the entire cast and crew were completely focused on the storytelling and production work. The respect they have for their profession was incredible to witness. Most of all, the people. They’ve built a phenomenal team with genuine servant hearts. They have been deeply kind to our staff and intentional about gratitude. While we welcomed them into our home, they have welcomed us into their community tenfold.”

Stay tuned for the premiere of HOPE; a public screening may take place right here in Oklahoma.
