Welcome to Camp ‘26

Dear Friends in Christ,

My name is Matthew Wilson, and I am grateful and excited to introduce myself as the new Director of Children, Youth, and Summer Camp for the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma. I am honored to join the diocese and to be part of the wonderful ministry already happening across Oklahoma. I believe children and young people are not simply the future of the Church—they are an important part of the Church today, bringing their own gifts, questions, faith, and perspective to the Body of Christ.

This year, we will explore new aspects of evangelism with the theme “A Table in the Wilderness.” In this “wilderness” season of so much uncertainty in our world and in the Church, how is God gathering and feeding us (and our neighbors) in new and unexpected ways? I believe this question speaks beautifully to our ministry with children, youth, and families. We have an opportunity to create places of welcome, belonging, discovery, and faith where young people can encounter Christ and experience the Church as a community gathered around God’s table.

I look forward to meeting you, visiting your congregations, spending time with our young people, and sharing in the ministry God is already doing throughout the Diocese of Oklahoma. Please feel free to reach out and introduce yourself—I would love to hear your story and learn how we can work together to help every child and young person know that they are beloved by God and have a place at Christ’s table.

Peace,

Matthew Wilson, Director of Children, Youth, and Summer Camp
