School for Ministry

History

The Diocese of Oklahoma Schools for Ministry in the Diocese of Oklahoma is a collection of programs dedicated to forming disciples and building thriving congregations across the state.

The Diocese of Oklahoma Schools for Ministry began in Oklahoma with the IONA School for Formation, modeled on the IONA School for Ministry in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, with the mission of educating and forming those who wished to serve as deacons and bi-vocational priests in the Diocese of Oklahoma.

In January 2021, the Diocese of Oklahoma launched a new school for ministry, the Diocese of Oklahoma School for Spiritual Direction, under the direction of the Rev. Canon Susan Joplin.

We look forward to launching our Diocese of Oklahoma School for Discipleship, our newest school for ministry in the Diocese, in January 2022. The School for Discipleship will offer ala carte options for lay and clergy of the Diocese of Oklahoma, and beyond, in the areas of spirituality, formation, leadership development, and trainings. The School for Ministry is under the direction of Kate Carney Bond, the Director of Formation and Discipleship, and is supported by the Ministry Partners Team at the Diocese of Oklahoma.
