Our liturgical observances of Ash Wednesday this year will hold special, poignant meaning. It was around Ash Wednesday a year ago that this pandemic came into our national awareness (though the disease had infected people beginning some months before). And so, this February 17th, we will recall, each in our own way, the devastating loss of so many people to COVID-19 over this past year in the world, our nation, our state, our local communities, and among our families and friends.

Foundation Awards $700 to Local Episcopal Church

(OKLAHOMA CITY) – This winter, the Oklahoma City Community Foundation is helping provide warm meals to homebound elderly citizens by awarding $51,600 in grants to 40 area churches and organizations that prepare and deliver mobile meals through Meals on Wheels Oklahoma City, including Episcopal Church of the Resurrection. In addition, the Foundation is awarding $5,000 each to Meals on Wheels of Norman and Edmond Mobile Meals to support seniors in their areas.

Mayor David Holt of Oklahoma City has asked this afternoon that residents of the city make a renewed and extraordinary effort over the next 10 days to limit higher-risk activities, in an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19. This comes in response to an alarming rise in COVID cases, and related hospitalizations and deaths.
