Every year at Diocesan Convention, Bishop Poulson awards a few exceptional individuals in our Diocese with the Bishop's Cross. This year he awarded, the Rev. Kay Boman-Harvey from All Saints' in Miami and Susan Morgan from Christ Church in Tulsa! Do you know someone in our congregations who is deserving of a Bishop's Cross? Email us your ideas!

Susan Morgan of Christ Church in Tulsa:

Susan Morgan has been a devoted volunteer at Christ Church and the Diocese. She served on the Diocese's Stewardship Commission for many years, assisting congregations in their stewardship efforts and creating planned giving programs.

She was a dedicated staff member holding Christ Church together through passion, dedication, and tenacity before retiring to care for her husband with Alzheimer's. She maintained an impressive knowledge of the church, carefully maintained in her sharp mind or of the 100 post-it notes on her desk or stacks of paper that she could find with speed faster than a Google search.

But retirement was in name only. She continued to volunteer faithfully in many capacities.

She has served as a delegate to Diocesan Convention more times than can be counted. And co-chaired the Diocesan Convention when we welcomed and hosted Presiding Bishop Michael Curry.

Christ Church's transformation and revitalization are partly due to Susan's ministry, which refused to let this place die.

The Rev. Kay Boman-Harvey of All Saints' Miami:

The Rev. Kay Boman-Harvey, or more affectionately known as Kay-Bo, has faithfully ministered to the people of All Saints in Miami for many years. Kay-Bo's ministry as a deacon was extended into her work as a Foreign language teacher in the public school system.

For over 40 years, Kay-Bo has been a camp counselor, Dean, Chaplain, and mentor at St. Crispin's Summer Camp. Her smile, exceptional hugs, and infectious laugh made her a palpable welcoming presence. Her passion for children and youth also took her to numerous Episcopal Youth Events around the US. She has represented the Diocese at the General Convention, serving on the formation committee several times. Her ability to speak fluent Spanish has served as a valuable asset for welcoming our LatinX neighbors, and she was instrumental in helping All Saints' Miami begin their thriving teacher's toolbox ministry. Kay-Bo is also known for her extensive pig collection and can knit a shawl faster than a Bishop's Address!

It was both at St. Crispin's and at All Saints that Kay recognized and began to respond to the call to become a vocational deacon. That call culminated in her ordination to the diaconate in 1996. She frequently states a Deacon is called to make "good trouble,"  and she continues to answer faithfully and graciously as a servant in God's church.
