Although the deadline is approaching, there is still
time for those who would like to begin to explore such a vocation this
year. Applications are due May 31 for our Aspirancy Program.
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Back in February, I wrote to the clergy and people of the
Diocese of Oklahoma to remind you of the importance of helping each other
to discern and respond to a possible call to serve God as an ordained
deacon or priest. We always need capable, loving, mission-minded
clergy to partner with all of us in the ministry we share through our
Baptismal Covenant. One town at a time, one neighborhood at a
time, one person at a time, we are committed to transforming lives in the
love of Jesus Christ.
Although the deadline is approaching, there is still time
for those who would like to begin to explore such a vocation this
year. Applications are due May 31 for our Aspirancy Program. If
you sense that you or another member of your congregation may be called
in this way, please speak to your parish priest (or senior or bishop’s
warden, if you are currently without a priest). Please also
encourage others in whom you see the Spirit at work to have such a
conversation and bring them to the attention of your clergy and wardens.
I want to make sure that each of you has the opportunity to
see the new materials that we are using to encourage discernment of
possible vocations to Holy Orders. They are available here.
One way to encourage others is to share a copy of the
brochure (or the link above) with them. Inquiries should be sent to holyorders@epiok.org. They
can also be sent to Ms. Diane Ellsworth (dellsworth@epiok.org;
405-232-4820).
Faithfully,
Bishop Ed
