Message from Bishop Poulson on Tulsa Shooting

Bishop Poulson Reed shares with us a message and a prayer for peace, after the Tulsa hospital shooting.

Written by Bishop Poulson:

"I’ve just come out of a meeting in Tulsa, hearing the awful news of the violence here at the Saint Francis Medical Campus. We pray tonight for those who have been killed or injured at this place of healing, and for their loved ones. And while we await the details of what has happened, we lament that, once again, gun violence has devastated a community, in this instance close to home. We seek leadership from our elected officials to find common-sense actions to make events like these less likely."

Let us pray the Prayer of Saint Francis:

Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is
hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where
there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where
there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where
there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to
be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is
in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we
are born to eternal life. Amen.
