Deconsecration of OSU Canterbury Center

Deconsecration of OSU Canterbury Center

This week, Bishop Poulson Reed led a special deconsecration service at Oklahoma State University Canterbury Center. Canterbury will be moving out of its current space on Campus Corner by the end of this semester. A large crowd of students, alumni, and friends gathered to thank God for the impact of this ministry in this location over the past 25 years.

In his homily on the Ascension, Bishop Poulson shared that, while sacred spaces are important, the ascended Christ has “filled all things” and is with us everywhere, and especially in the Holy Eucharist.

The community, led by Chaplain Fr. Jeff Huston, is actively exploring options for a new location. A new lease agreement could not be reached despite efforts to negotiate with the new property owners. In the meantime, gatherings will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Stillwater. Please keep the Canterbury students, the board of the Canterbury Center, and Fr. Jeff Huston in your prayers during this transitional period.
