As we approach Veterans’ Day, some Golden Corral restaurants are partnering with local Disabled American Veterans Chapters in support for veterans of all generations now through Monday, November 13. Check with your local DAV Chapter for participating Golden Corrals.

Saturday, November 11, is Veterans Day. In addition to the options of prayers for Thanksgiving for National Life on page 838 BCP, I offer these two variations of prayers found on a Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) website that your congregation may wish to include as special prayers or incorporated into the Prayers of the People.

Oh Lord, we thank you for each and every veteran who served our country through the years.  Comfort those who struggle in life after war.  Help us to honor and care for those who have given so much for us.  We pray also for the servicemen and women worldwide deployed fighting for freedom’s sake they may be protected; for the love of him who laid down his life for us, the same Son our savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with the Father and Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Almighty God... we call upon you in our own distinctive ways.  We thank you for your guidance of our leaders and for our country.  Continue to watch over our nation and the canopy of peace we are so blessed to live in.  Lord thank you for every Veteran and how our nation honors sacrifice and service.  We lift up our brothers and sisters who have  served at home and abroad and ventured much for the liberties we now enjoy that they may be shielded by your gracious care; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
