By Church of the Holy Cross, Owasso
At the Church of the Holy Cross in Owasso, we like to call ourselves "the little church that could". While not the largest congregation in terms of average Sunday attendance, we are huge when it comes to faithfulness and love.
Over the past couple of years, we've been on a journey to better make ourselves known in the community. A key component of this has been our new sign project. We spent a year plus on fundraising and getting the approvals and permits needed to upgrade our sign. We went thru the construction process for the sign while tending to a few other building projects as well. Then, on Sunday, November 4th, we were able to fully celebrate our new sign with the Rev. Canon Dr. Bill Carroll, Canon for Clergy Transitions & Congregational Life, who joined us to bless the sign. From initial discussions with the Bishop's Committee to Blessing, this was a two-year journey.
Throughout this journey we have been blessed by and are thankful for: the leadership of Wes Mitchell, our Senior Warden; the persistence and follow-up of Floyd Brown, our Junior Warden; the generosity of the many financial contributors to this project; the city of Owasso for their partnership in the re-zoning and permit processes; the consistent support received from the Diocese; and the faithfulness and love that never wavered from the parishioners of The Church of the Holy Cross. We look forward to our continued ministry and worship in Owasso!
