This month Grace Ponca City had a profound ceremony honoring their Deacon Steven M. Mallory with a Quilt of Valor. He was awarded the quilt not only for his service but also for his continuing help to veterans who are fighting PTSD.
The idea for the quilt was Catherine Roberts, founder of Quilt of Valor Foundation, whose son was deployed in Iraq. The mission of the Quilt of Valor Foundation is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with a comforting and healing Quilt of Valor. The final part of the presentation of the Quilt of Valor is to wrap it around the shoulders of the recipient.Kay Zang created Deacon Steve's quilt which was the latest of the hundreds of quilts she has sewn for deserving veterans. Each beautiful quilt takes months to complete.Deacon Steven M. Mallory was ordained in 1996 and has since been Deacon of Grace Church Ponca City.
Thank you 2nd Class Petty Officer Steven M. Mallory for your devotion to serve God, Country and Mankind!
