Children's Ministry
Children and youth are not the future
of our church – they are here now! In the Diocese of Oklahoma, we recognize and
celebrate Jesus’ special love for the youngest among us, and we make our
ministries that form young people as disciples of Jesus a priority.
In the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma,
we believe in and follow The Children’s Charter for the Church. The Children’s Charter was adopted by 2009 General Convention as the
education model for all in The Episcopal Church. Developed by educators, this
charter embodies a true commitment to engage both children and youth in the
life, ministry, and service of the Church. It recognizes that we have three main responsibilities for providing Christian Formation to
our children:
> Provide Nurture of the child;
> Provide Ministry to the Child; and,
> Provide Ministry of the Child.
As an
Episcopal community of faith, in our Baptismal Covenant we have agreed to “continue
in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of the bread, and in
the prayers.” Serving our children and helping to provide a solid faith
foundation, is one of the most important things our Church can do!
Children’s Ministries include children
up through 5th grade, and most of these offerings occur directly in our congregations. Each congregation has its own approach to helping children grow
in Christian discipleship and in knowing Jesus and the power of his love. Most
congregations offer Sunday School or Children’s Chapel each Sunday. Some offer
special worship services tailored for families to enjoy together. Find out more
on the congregations’ websites!
St. Crispin's Summer Camp
In addition to ministries in our congregations, we enjoy a terrific summer camp at St. Crispin’s! Each summer hundreds of children and youth experience the Christian faith at St. Crispin’s Summer Camp. Learn more information about St. Crispin’s Summer Camp below!
