Youth Ministries includes those in
grades 6 - 12, and many of our congregations have terrific youth programs for students
in their teen years. This is a time of questioning and becoming, as young
people engage the big questions of life and learn how to navigate a world of
adult decisions and grown-up relationships. Each congregation has a different
approach to youth ministries, but each one cares deeply for its teen members. Find
out more on the congregations’ websites!
Additionally, our diocese offers several programs that bring youth together across the state of Oklahoma:
Beginnings is a unique experience designed specifically to respond to the needs
and concerns of Youth in grades 6-9. New Beginning’s purpose is to help young
people grow in the love of themselves, others, and Jesus Christ.
Our Diocesan Youth Pilgrimage program is an opportunity to learn about the church and experience God. This year we are exploring the History of the Episcopal Church and how the Church has contributed to the formation of our government, the role the church plays today, and the importance of civil discourse.
EYE is a triennial event for the entire Episcopal Church. About 1500 people (high school students, their adult mentors, and Bishops from around the church) come together and live on a college campus for a little under a week.
Created in the Image is a series of separate four retreats, held once a year, during which we tackle difficult topics our youth experience at school and in society and how our faith frames these experiences. The retreat weekends are developmentally appropriate and are facilitated by youth ministers from around the Diocese under the leadership of the Director of Youth and Young Adults.
Becoming Beloved Community: Dismantling Racism Training is for youth and their parents starting November 1st to December 6th and February 7th - March 14th all at 5:00PM CST. This training features six 1.5 hour interactive Zoom sessions addressing issues such as racial history, privilege, internalized oppression, and allyship.
